About Maria
Maria is a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and ISST-CAST Certified Sandplay Therapist. Her work is informed by anti-oppressive perspectives, neuroscience research, the mind-body relationship, symbolic process, and spirituality. Her nearly twenty years of experience integrates sandplay, art, mindfulness, and play with verbal therapies.

Foundational Studies
Maria has studied Carl Jung’s work on archetypal symbolism and theories of the human psyche. Her personal work with Jungian analyst and author Marion Woodman deepened this learning, bringing an understanding that the body is integral to the process of self-realization.
After extensive clinical training, Maria achieved certification in Jungian Sandplay, a modality developed by Jung’s student Dora Klaff. Maria’s training in Play Therapy includes intensive study with Child Psychologist Violet Oaklander.

Maria is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and holds Masters Degrees in Social Work and Sociology.
She is a Board member, Past President and Senior Teaching Member of the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST). She provides internationally recognized sandplay training, supervision, workshops and conference presentations.
